CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS TO

 TASA 2020 VIRTUAL EVENT

SOCIOLOGICAL INSIGHTS FOR THE ‘NOW’ NORMAL

Dear~~first_name~~,

TASA recognises the value that our annual conferences bring to our TASA members and delegates. In place of running a face-to-face conference, we have decided to run a virtual event to provide our members a platform to present their work in the collegial environment for which TASA is renowned and an occasion for our award recipients to receive the recognition that they deserve.

The theme of our virtual gathering is “Sociological Insights for the ‘now’ normal”. We will run the event during the previously advertised time for the TASA 2020 conference (November 23-26). There will be two panels and one workshop session on mentoring – details to follow soon. We hope to have a number of sessions across 2-3 days and we will finish the event with our Annual General Meeting.

We invite Thematic Group convenors and individual members who would like to propose a session to contribute to this virtual event. Your contribution may take the form a panel session, workshop, or a session of presenters (for example, inviting or selecting members from your thematic group to present their research). You may have another idea for a session that you would like to hold as part of TASA’s virtual event. TASA understands that this is a challenging time and it may not be feasible for everyone to participate.

Please send your expression of interest by August 28th to admin@tasa.org.au to allow time to create a program of events. The event will be free for members and non-members alike. TASA will use a platform to allow ease of use for our convenors, presenters and attendees. We aim to provide equitable access and the ability to virtually engage with our colleagues from within and outside Australia.

We look forward to seeing you in November.
