May 2022

Hi everyone

Hope you are all doing well. A quick update from us today.

Our next meeting
We are hosting an Applied Sociology catch-up at the end of the month, all welcome. Please feel free to bring along any work or questions you might have and let us know if you would like to present or share a paper!
  • Tues 24 May 2022, 2pm AEST https://charlesdarwinuni.zoom.us/j/85159565602

Save the date!
Dr Catherine Hastings will lead a presentation+discussion session on the use of critical realism in sociological research and evaluations. More info closer to the date.

TASA 2022 conference abstracts open
Call for abstract is now open for TASA 2022 Conference. We have organised an Applied sociology inspired symposium/panel in end November about using sociology for institutional change. Nick Fox from BSA will be joining! More info here. We have a couple of spots left so please submit an abstract via the portal if you would like to present a paper on this theme! Send us an email too so we know to look out for it. We will likely organise a social networking event early in the conference, so keep a look out for more details later in the year.

ISA 2023 side event
As you might know, the International Sociological Association is coming to Melbourne next year but they don't have an explicit Applied Sociology Group. We will organise a side event to the conference to gather national and international Applied Sociologists - please let me know if you are based in Melbourne and are happy to assist with organising :) (thought we have time..)

Stay in touch!
