This is our final friendly reminder that submissions for TASA 2022 are due by tomorrow Wednesday June 1st.
 
 
In case you haven't heard, we have three terrific keynotes speakers locked in for our conference:
  1. Professor Barbara Prainsack - Head of Department at the Department of Political Science at the University Vienna, where she also directs the Centre for the Study of Contemporary Solidarity (CeSCoS), and the interdisciplinary Research Platform “Governance of Digital Practices”.  Barbara's work explores the social, ethical, and regulatory dimensions of genetic and data-driven practices and technologies in biomedicine and forensics.
  2.  Dr Samantha Crompvoets - a sociologist, entrepreneur, consultant and advisor to Australian and international governments and the private sector on leadership, accountability, institutional misconduct, and integrating women into traditionally male dominated fields.
  3.  Professor Yin Paradies - a Wakaya man who is Chair in Race Relations at Deakin university. He conducts research on the health, social and economic effects of racism, anti-racism theory, policy and practice as well as Indigenous knowledges and decolonisation.
There are also 12 panel sessions:
  1. Religious Diversity in Australia
  2. The Australian digital welfare state: intersectional perspectives and contestations
  3. Intergenerational Connections and Challenges in the Asset Economy
  4. Globalization, Low-intensity Conflict, and Religious Militancy: The Taliban as a Phenomenon and a Movement
  5. Sociology for real-life institutional change: challenges and transformation
  6. 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup: A Triumphant Moment or Business as Usual
  7. Loneliness and Social Isolation in a post-COVID world
  8. Young people and the transformation of selves and society in (post-)pandemic times: insights from Life Patterns
  9. Sociology at the Crossroads: Challenges for Sociology in the 21st Century
  10. “Living with COVID”: Marginalised Perspectives
  11. Queer Youth Studies
  12. Healthy Societies after the pandemic: How do we ‘Build back better’?
Of course, there will also be the conference dinner, queer drinks, women's breakfast, multiple concurrent sessions, the annual general meeting, presidential address, annual thematic group meetings, professoriate meeting, book launches, and more. 
 
If you haven't submitted an abstract or refereed paper and you would like to present at TASA 2022 (including if you have been invited to present as part of a panel), please ensure you upload your abstract or paper by tomorrow Wednesday 1st June.
