Hope you’re all well. Just a quick update from us on a couple of things.

 

Firstly, in preparation for next year’s ISA World Congress of Sociology in Melbourne, the coordinator of the ISA WG08 Group (‘Society and Emotions’), Prof. Helena Flam, has reached out for an Australia-based co-coordinator for the WG08 sessions. This is a great opportunity for anyone particularly keen to help shape the Affect & Emotions themed sessions of the congress and to develop working relationships with overseas scholars. If you are interested in this voluntary role or have any questions please get in touch with Matt (m.wade@latrobe.edu.au) by Saturday March 5. We believe – but are awaiting confirmation – that whoever takes up this role will be entitled to a complimentary registration for the Congress. This might therefore be a great opportunity for a postgraduate researcher.

 

If we do not receive any expressions of interest then one of us will serve in this role, but we thought it best to first offer this opportunity to all of our group members.

 

Secondly, following on from the success of last year’s Hope & Empathy Symposium we are currently putting together an application for funding to host an event later this year. Fingers crossed the application is successful, and we will certainly keep you updated as soon as we have news to share.
