Within this session guest discussants Professor Barry Judd and Professor Andrew Gunstone will provide their insights and deep reflections on the outcomes of Australia's recent Voice referendum and answer the burning question: Where to from here?

Professor Barry Judd
Professor Barry Judd is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous) and Professor Indigenous Studies in the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne. In his role as DVC, Professor Judd has responsibility for institutional policy, strategy, and advice in relation to all aspects of Indigenous higher education. Professor Judd holds an MA in Public Policy and a PhD in Australian Indigenous Studies and holds postgraduate qualifications in higher education teaching and learning. His area of research expertise relates to Australian race relations in Australian sports and interdisciplinary research methods in Indigenous Studies and Australian history.
Professor Andrew Gunstone
Professor Andrew Gunstone is one of Australia's leading authorities on reconciliation. He is Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Reconciliation and Professor Indigenous Studies at Federation University. He has institution-wide responsibility for all reconciliation matters, including the Reconciliation Action Plan, and the National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth, and Justice, which he established in 2023. He is an international expert in academic, industry, and community engagements and understandings of reconciliation. He has written over 150 publications, including nine books, and provides expert advice to industry, corporates, governments, and academia. His current projects receive $8.2 million in funding and focusses on truth-telling, multicultural engagements, education, and reconciliation. Professor Gunstone is Co-Chair of the Board of Directors at Reconciliation Victoria, the peak state-wide body leading reconciliation in Victoria, Foundation Editor of the Journal of Australian Indigenous Issues, a leading international journal established in 1998, Co-Convenor of the National University RAP Network, and sits on several national and regional reconciliation committees.
