Dear TASA TG conveners,
This message is to convey four important things for TG convenors:
(1) Thanks to the 18 members who attended our last conveners' mtg on 1 Aug, and a special thanks our guest speakers, A/Prof Peta Cook (UTas) and Dr Catriona Stevens (ECU), who led the meeting with a terrific conversation about 'how to convene a TASA TG'. A video recording is available for those who couldn't make it. If you'd like access to the recording, please get in touch! The next meeting for TG conveners will be a hybrid meeting at the forthcoming TASA conference at Curtin Univ., WA, in late Nov. At this meeting, you will also get a chance to meet the new TG Portfolio Leader, who will be taking over the role from me later in the year. More details to follow!
(2) Funding for TG activities in the first half of 2025 (1 Jan - 30 Jun) is available for applications now. The deadline for application for this round has been extended to Mon 9 Sept. For details about funding applications, check the Conveners' Manual or just ask. If you're working on an application already, if you intend to do so, or if you're just thinking about it, I'd be very happy to provide any advice and/or answer any questions.
(3) Also note: the maximum funding for TG applications has been increased from the previous maximum of $2000 up to a new maximum of $3000. This increase is taking place on a trial basis for FY2024/25. This means that TGs now have the opportunity to apply for up to $3000 in the forthcoming Sept funding round or up to $3000 in the March 2025 funding round. (Note that the March 2025 funding round applies to TG events/initiatives planned for the second half of 2025, i.e., 1 Jul - 31 Dec 2025).
(4) The TASA Conference in November will be an important opportunity for TG members to meet. These meetings provide an opportunity for you to update members about TG activities, for members to meet (often for the first time!), and for new or interested folks to enquire about TG activities. Meetings are generally brief and interactive - they don't have to be long or super-formal! Nevertheless, it's a good idea to touch base with your co-convener(s) ASAP to plan who will be available for the conference, either in-person or online. Time and space will be allocated for TG meetings at the conference - more information to follow. Down the track, we will also ask conveners to confirm your meeting at the conference so we can plan sufficient rooms.
As always, don't hesitate to get in touch if you have questions, feedback, etc.
