Knowing the City – movements, epistemologies, and visions’
About this event

The Urban Sociology Thematic Group invites colleagues to join us on Thursday, 9 October 2025 at The University of Sydney for an engaging symposium exploring the theme Knowing the City – Movements, Epistemologies, and Visions.
This event will examine how cities are experienced, understood, and imagined through diverse lenses—across movement, knowledge-making, and aspirational urban futures. Participants will explore the complex intersections of urban life, from mobility and spatial justice to the ways cities are researched, represented, and re-envisioned in times of transformation and crisis.
Whether you are focused on urban planning, housing, gentrification, social justice, or cultural life in cities, this symposium will offer a valuable space for dialogue and exchange.
Join us to rethink how to investigate and understand the city.
Register now to be part of the conversation.
