Dr Nashid Nigar
Dr Nashid Nigar is a Lecturer in Education at Monash University and an award-winning scholar working at the intersection of sociology, sociolinguistics, and migration studies. Her research examines how language, identity, and power are co-constituted within institutional and everyday contexts, with a particular focus on culturally and linguistically diverse communities. She is the recipient of the 2024 Mollie Holman Medal for doctoral excellence and has received national and international recognition for her contributions to research on linguistic diversity, equity, and professional practice and subjectivity. Her interdisciplinary work spans sociology, applied linguistics, and education, and is published in leading international journals and edited collections. She has extensive experience teaching and supervising postgraduate researchers and is committed to fostering rigorous, reflexive, and socially responsive research practices.
