Welcome to last week’s newsletter! Clearly, a step was missed in ensuring the newsletter reached you last Thursday. As we can't merge last week's and this week's edition, we're sharing the two newsletters with you today.
Last week, we were right in the heart of our annual conference, and the energy was fantastic. With sessions in full swing, last week brought two key events, the Presidential Panel and the Annual General Meeting, which sparked thoughtful discussion and guided our collective work ahead.
Amidst the excitement of the conference, we’re delighted to share happy news: Ash Barnwell, our co-editor in chief of the Journal of Sociology (EiC), has welcomed her new baby, Vera Joan! Vera joins Signe Ravin's (fellow JoS co-EiC) baby Oscar in the JoS EiC creche:-) We extend our warmest congratulations to Ash and her family.
The conference dinner was a highlight of the week, where our 2025 Awards recipients were recognised, see below. It was wonderful to celebrate their outstanding contributions, knowing they continue to shape and strengthen our field. We also marked a very special occasion: the Journal of Sociology’s 60th birthday, complete with cake and a sing-along of Happy Birthday!
