In this Thursday Talk we discuss our current qualitative and culturally-sensitive project Familias Resilientes which examines how Hispanic/Latinx families with an incarcerated loved one in California cultivate and sustain resilience under structurally constrained conditions.
This project offers a critical framework for exploring the ways in which a researcher’s positionality and reflexivity become salient amidst fieldwork, when performing analysis, and even during the writing. We conclude with some best practices for qualitative researchers to manage the emotional complexity of their scholarship.
