Newsletter #1 March 2026

Hi Everyone,

I'm Rose Stambe, and I'm the convenor for the Applied Sociology TG. Last year was incredibly busy for me (and for everyone else too!), but I'm hoping to make 2026 a more active year for the group.

Applied Sociology spans a huge range of work in community research, policy, practice, consulting, and advocacy. It's great to have a space where people doing this kind of work can connect, share what they are up to, and support each other.

A couple of things I'm planning:
- A quarterly newsletter to keep members in the loop on each other's work, relevant opportunities and CFPs.
- An informal meetup at the TASA conference in November
- An application for the Gary Bouma Memorial Workshop Funding to a 2027 event.

To get the ball rolling, I'd love to hear from you:
- Is there anything you're working on that you'd like to share with the group?
- Is there a topic or focus for a workshop that you are particularly interested in that would also be interesting for the TG?

Feel free to reply to my work email r.stambe@griffith.edu.au.
