ISA 2023 Volunteers
ISA 2023
Call for Volunteers
CLICK HERE TO VOLUNTEER FOR ISA 2023 WCS
The world congress of sociology is the largest meeting of Sociologists globally. We are seeking volunteers to be part of this important event. This is an excellent opportunity for TASA members to connect with sociologists from around the world.
A range of volunteering roles will be available including zoom/room support for the Research Committees, Thematic Groups and Working Groups, as well as registration support, directing people to the correct rooms, lost and found and helping the event run smoothly. People who can attend for the full week are preferred but there may also be opportunities for volunteering for a single day.
There will be a volunteer training session held at the Congress venue on Sunday June 25th. Time TBC (either late morning or early afternoon) ahead of the Welcome ceremony.
Volunteers receive free registration and a 'volunteer' t-shirt. If you are a student or are precariously employed and have had an abstract/s accepted for the Congress, you are still welcome to volunteer. You will be relieved of your duties during the time/s you are scheduled to present.
Important note:
Each room will be equipped with a laptop that will be used for both in-person and virtual presentations. However, the volunteers assigned to rooms will need to bring their own device (smartphone, tablet, or laptop), and headphones to connect to their device, so they can join the Zoom session, via Congress WiFi, for the meeting room they are monitoring. This will enable the room volunteer to see and hear what the Zoom looks/sounds like for the virtual attendees, and to be feet on the ground for the virtual tech team to help communicate audio/visual issues to onsite techs so they can be addressed promptly. Room volunteers connected to Zoom, this way, will be able to communicate directly with the virtual techs via Zoom chat, so the techs can help troubleshoot any Zoom issues that might come up in the meeting rooms, and can contact the volunteers if there are any problems affecting the experience for the virtual attendees.
The Congress is being held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre as well as Crown Melbourne (across the road from each other).
Please access the volunteer form via the orange button below and we will be in touch with you soon with details about how to access your complimentary registration.
