To modify this page, paste in the URL of the banner image. Get the banner image URL from clicking the clipboard icon in web graphics manager. Search for images in the "banner" category.

To modify the links on the right hand side, right click on the link and select "change link" from the popup context menu. The link will automatically format to have the arrow.

You may also use a submenu widget here instead of manual links. The awards pages names were too long for the submenu widget - page names have a maximum character length of 26 characters.

To change the image in the gray row (beneath the text) right click on the image, and choose "change image" from the context menu.

All other text should be selected and retyped.

TASA 2026: Bursaries

Applications for most TASA 2026 bursaries (Indigenous bursary open until 15 June) closed on 24 April. Note, all bursary inquiries are to be directed to Sally in TASA Admin. For TASA members, the following Conference Bursaries are available:

Each bursary comes with complimentary registration and a travel funding component that is dependent on where each recipient resides. For TASA 2026, that funding is WA up to $1050, NT up to $900, SA up to $750, Tasmania up to $800, NSW up to $500, regional NSW up to $750, Melbourne up to $700, regional Victoria up to $800, and FNQ up to $750. For overseas members, the travel funding is up to AUD $2500 depending on the country the recipient is travelling from. 

Note: if you are an Indigenous TASA member and you would like details of our Indigenous Travel Bursary, you can find them here. Applications for the Indigenous bursary will remain open until 15 June. 

Overseas members
Overseas members can apply for the Postgraduate Bursary and the Precarious Work Bursary.

In addition to completing the application form, overseas applicants need to:
  • Submit up-to a 3000 word paper as well as a 100 word statement saying how their presentation is connected to Australian Sociology or how they are connected to Australia.

Finally, applicants also need to submit an additional statement addressing the following criteria:


1) A statement by the applicant made in support of how participating in the conference is going to shape their education/career/sociological understanding.

2) Evidence of an Australian visa application (completed or in progress), if required.

3) Evidence of the cost of travel and other costs involved – including screenshots/itineraries from travel websites indicating the cost of return flights to and from conference venue to applicant’s location.

4) Evidence of association of the applicant with a university/industrial setting AND/OR a recommendation letter by a supervisor or faculty member supporting the applicant’s participation in the conference.
