Re: TASA Thursdays for Postgrads

Hi TASA Postgrads,

TASA has launched "TASA Thursdays", an online lunchtime event every Thursday.

There are two upcoming events that will be great for Postgrads!

1.

TASA Rapid Peer Support Session – postgrads encouraged to attend!

When: Thursday 7th of May, 12:30pm - 1:30pm AEST,

Where: Zoom -  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84402032254

Sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe_dxnWF0KbBExePfeipOwoVWzcc0ICd2Pw3MWH8VBf-7rUKA/viewform

Once a month, TASA is hosting a rapid peer support session via Zoom. Each session will involve two speakers, who will talk for five minutes about a problem they are facing in their sociological work. This is an opportunity to talk candidly with others, to develop ideas and work you may be finding difficult to progress in a supportive and collegial space. Other participants will then have twenty minutes to ask questions of each speaker. Please limit this time to brief questions only – there will be later opportunities to engage in dialogue, give advice, and suggest readings. Fill out this form to volunteer as a speaker. TASA Secretary Ash Watson will then be in touch to organise a session with you.

2.

Postgrad Research in the next 6 months – made specifically for TASA Postgrads

When: Thursday 14th of May, 12:30pm - 1:30pm AEST,

Where: Zoom - https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83569746464

A panel discussion of the challenges and opportunities when doing Postgrad research as a result of Covid-19. The panel will include a postgraduate and international student representative, postgrad research supervisors, and experts in precarious employment. The panel will also take question from the audience.

Hope to see you are these events.
