The Impact of Opportunity: Reflections of a TASA 2024 Bursary Recipient by Lorraine Bell
I am very grateful to be the recipient of TASA’s Sociology in Action bursary that enabled me to attend TASA 2024 in Perth. I have wanted to attend a TASA conference for many years but this was the first opportunity I had to attend. It was a fantastic conference! For me personally, this was an invaluable experience to meet fellow sociologists and hear insightful presentations and panel discussions. I do not currently work in a university and there are no other sociologists in my team, so I really appreciated the chance to meet and mingle with like-minded researchers.
It was also a wonderful opportunity to share my work with a sociology audience. I presented research from my “Following the Antibiotics” study that is looking at the social life of antibiotics across human and companion animal supply chains. I made some valuable connections and I’m keen to keep in touch and collaborate further with TASA's community.
I look forward to attending TASA 2025 in Melbourne!
